Description
There has been a debate in many parts of the world on whether death penalty for criminals has a place in the society. This paper attempts to find evidence regarding the same through a secondary research on the existing literature and research papers. A thorough research on the literature has been taken into account to provide with the arguments both for and against the death penalty regardless of the country.
The primary arguments for death penalty include reduction of crime and protecting the society being capital punishment acting as a deterrent to prevent crime and a person who takes life must lose their life. On the other hand, main arguments against capital punishment include no evidence for capital punishment to act as deterrent for preventing crime and murder to be a crime even if it is undertaken by the society. Based on the majority of the arguments and on a perspective of law in many countries, it is concluded that death penalty has no place in the society.
