Climate change is the one of the biggest challenges faced by the earth and the human beings today. Human activity has been scientifically proven to be the trigger. This phenomenon has far reaching effects and may cause long term damages. Therefore, the question of prosperity v/s posterity comes into play. Prosperity is usually mistaken to be present monetary benefit; however it is a wide term that involves a large number of concepts. The needs of posterity or the future generation are considered to be the responsibility of the present generation. Therefore, sustainable development is extremely important. Sustainable development brings into view ‘biodiversity’- the 3.5 million species that exist on earth. Posterity should account for all the living creatures on earth because biodiversity naturally maintains ecosystem balance. The situation has not yet gone out of hands. Control over GHG emissions through various strategies is important. Each individual should participate in the effort to save the earth.
