Description
Consumers have some prior needs, wants or desires, which are fulfilled by consumption of the respective goods or services and provides higher level of happiness or satisfaction (Yanping & Christopher, 2016). Consumers consume goods or services either for leisure or to maximize utility and more consumption is believed to be better with respect to increasing consumer’s utility (Stanca & Veenhoven, 2015). Different consumptions provide different level of happiness. Consumption of products and services provide different value to the consumers and the happiness level differs from person to person. Consumers are not very clear about the needs and wants, which changes the happiness level. Consumers who purchase a product or service to satisfy their needs realize the happiness of consuming the product more effectively as compared to the consumer who wants a certain product, which may or may not be his/her need (Lewis, 2012). This reflective essay discusses the thesis statement ‘Over consumption leads to lower happiness’ from all angles.
