- You have been invited to be on a panel of early childhood teachers for an upcoming professional development day on inclusive practice. Your brief is to investigate one particular disability / special educational need that you have an interest in and prepare your responses to the following prompts. Your responses must demonstrate a critical analysis of the perspectives associated with inclusive practice in relation to the early childhood education context and in relation to the particular disability/special educational need. Ensure your work is informed by policy/legislation, current research, national (NZ) and international perspectives. LOs1,2,3,4,5
- 1. Explain the associated characteristics of the particular disability / special educational need LO5 (500 words)
- 2. Critically examine the complexities and practicalities of inclusion for a child/children with the particular disability / special educational need within an early childhood centre in terms of: learning opportunities and experiences, environmental
- considerations and peer relationships. LOs1,5 (500 words)
- 3. Evaluate teaching strategies, practices and theoretical perspectives that you would utilise to fully support children with this
- disability/need so that inclusive practice is effectively planned for and implemented. LOs1,4 (500 words)
- 4. Comment on your role as a teacher and a teaching team to:
- a) Positively and effectively enable all children and their families, whānau ethically and inclusively and LOs1,3 (250 words)
- b) Effectively collaborate with families/whānau and any specialists involved LO2 (250 words)
