Technology has influenced humans in almost every aspect of their lives including education. Technology has changed the approach of formal education significantly. In earlier times, books were the only sources for learning and educating but today, there is abundant amount of information available in through print and electronic media (Dowd & Green, 2016). There is increased information available to students through audio, videos and images on the web and is easily accessible by students through internet and opportunities for communication and collaboration in education has increased due to technological advancements (Davidson et al., 2009). Digital technology has been changing the teaching and learning approaches significantly and has enabled a more engaged approach to learning providing the learners deeper insights on the topics being studied and empowering them with more knowledge and skills and is also enabling them to develop their skills at a faster pace (Mashhadi & Kargozari, 2011). This report discusses the impact of digital technology on formal education. The report then discusses some of the commonly used digital technologies in formal education and in the end, discusses the future learning technologies.
