Description

The rise in violence in schools has increased over the past few years all over the world. Some of the reasons can be traced to the influence of globalization and its growth. In particular, economic globalization is believed to be responsible for violence and other forms of bullying in schools across the world. As urban areas have increased around the world increasing the number of cities and thereby causing a disparity between various sections of the society, the differences between peoples economically have also increased leading to indifference in their attitude. Another effect of economic globalization has been on the migration of people between countries which has resulted in a need for integration between the peoples of various countries and communities. However, as the rate of migration has been faster than what the local communities can adjust with, it has lead to disputes between them. This effect has also trickled into the colleges and schools of nations. Therefore in the below section, the researcher attempts to learn about the various aspects of bullying in schools concluding with a section on how to deal with the phenomenon citing examples of such successful events (Debarbieux, 2003).
