This assignment is based on the following scenario –
Complete a written practical report (with all sections present) for the following:
You have just finished a piece of research which investigated the affect of Health Value on Health Locus of Control. Each participant was placed in one of two groups – “High Health Value” or “Low Health Value”. They were then asked to complete a measure of Health Locus of Control, where higher scores indicate higher Internal Locus of Control. The studies also looked into the effect of Chance and Powerful Others part of investigation over Health Locus of control where high scores on Chance and Powerful others indicate lower Locus of Control. The theory has been tested in various health settings (i.e. alcohol consumption, arthritis etc.). For the purpose of this practice we simplify the task for you that you only look at the overall effect of Health Locus of Control (HLOC) where high scores indicates Internal HLOC.

You must write the report as if you had conducted the practical yourself. The report should have a title and your abstract should provide a summary of the study. Your introduction should review the relevant literature, include a rationale and end with your hypothesis. The method section should include a discussion of the design (DVs, IVs, etc.), your participants, any materials or apparatus and the procedure. The results section will be based on the following data:

You must calculate the appropriate statistical test to analyse this data, and report the findings in the results section of your report – all your calculations must be placed in the appendices. In the discussion you will discuss the results and the theoretical implications of the study, including your thoughts on methodological issues. You should also suggest further areas for research.
