Description

Leadership and crisis are interwoven in a manner that has ways to supplement each other. It is the pioneer's obligation to answer and react accordingly to the pressures and instabilities coming from emergencies and crisis in a business organization. In spite of the negative impacts that occur in times of emergencies, it is imperative to recognize the way that emergencies create an opening in which the leader has the opportunity to change the organizational framework and its strategies. As indicated by “crisis-reform thesis," a leader ought to abstain from being polluted by such situations (Boin & Hart, 2003). In recent times, we owe theses crisis situations to globalization, deregulation, IT innovation, and improvements and mechanical advances. While these advances generate one global market, but also makes business vulnerable to the terrible effects of global crisis. “During periods of crisis, people look for a strong leader. They don’t look to committees or to teams; they look for a confident, visibly engaged leader to pull them through” (Essentials, 2004). Tragically, in such situations leaders are pulled back behind the defensive blind by attorneys or accuse their subordinates and the media (Pinsdorf, 2004). The good leader must be balanced, valiant, submitted, and mindful. In a crisis event, the leader has to lead, and he must accept the part and do it well (Essentials, 2004).
This study will analyse the leadership crisis dilemmas in a business and a calculated review of leadership skills and attributes. A personal review about the same will be comprehended at the end of the paper.
