Description
One of the core public health activities is improving health of communities. According to Institute of Medicine (IOM) ensuring that members of the society are healthy and are able to reach their full potential requires prevention of disease and injury (McMurray & Clendon 2015, p.45). It is essential to promote health and well-being and the assurance of conditions in which people can be healthy and are provided timely, effective, coordinated health care (Minkler & Wallerstein, 2011, p.31). This report discusses the community assessment process, which aims at effective engagement of the key stakeholders and prioritizing the health services and interventions based on the community needs.
