This assignment is based on the following requirements - - 1. Using online or text sources (make sure they are accurate – if in
- doubt, send me the link and I can verify), research the birthing
- experiences of women from British Columbia and two other, distinct cultures. Compare and contrast the following:
- i. Home or Hospital Birth more common?
- ii. Who attends the birth? Midwife, Doctor, spouse, females relatives?
- iii. What kind of medical interventions are available? Is there common use of epidurals, sedation drugs, caesarean deliveries?
- iv. What is the experience of the mother and child following the birth? Are there any rituals following the birth?
- 2. What would be your ideal birth plan in terms of the questions above? Give some rationales for your choices. ( I understand that many of you are not planning on starting a family in the near future, so think hypothetically – and yes, you can consider these questions if you are male – you’re a big part of this. )
