Human rights and well-being of people across the globe is very important to the economic activity at individual, group and societal level. Human rights are believed to be claims or entitlements of every human being. It differs from the constitutionally created rights guaranteed for specific people. The importance of political rights and civil liberties for human well-being is found to be evident. Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a review mechanism implemented by Human Rights Council (HRC), which review overall human rights situations in each UN Member State and is conducted by all UN Member States. At the end of the review, each State is expected to implement the recommendations provided after UPR and the ones it voluntary commits towards. This essay analyzes the effectiveness of Universal Periodic Review (UPR). The essay also asses the compliance of Ireland with International Human Rights Obligations.
