- Question A
- Congratulations on your appointment as Donald Trump’s political strategy team leader. Your first task is to inform the new president about the basics of the “policy process”.
- Specifically, you must explain to Mr. Trump the following:
- What is the “policy process”? Identify and describe the key characteristics of the various elements or stages.
- Consider the Trump campaign promise you selected for Posting One. Which stage of the policy process do you think it will reach (if any). Explain why.
- Explain Theodore Lowi’s typology of public policies. Which of Lowi’s types seems to fit best with the policy promise you are studying?
- Question B
- Not all conservatives are alike, nor are all liberals.
- 1) Explain the different types of conservatives and liberals discussed in class, and give examples of a policy each would support.
- 2) Identify two policies where it seems like the American split between “conservatives” and “liberals” seems potentially illogical. Where it seems like a “conservative” person might support a ”liberal” idea, or vice versa.
- Question C

- 1) Identify and describe the basic tools, or generic government solutions, that are available to solve social or economic problems. Note how each one theoretically works.
- 2) Provide examples of how each of these generic solutions could be used by Donald Trump or others in Washington, DC to promote job creation.
