Description

There has been rapid transformation in the approach of dealing with conflicts across the globe. Democratization, increasing globalization of economic power and information, international coordination of security policy, redefinition of sovereignty and open expressions of claims to rights based on cultural identity, impose new responsibilities on states towards citizens and the world community (Brune et al., 2015). Over the decades, there is an increased awareness of the various destructive consequences of conflicts, which has highlighted the issue of crisis and as such conflict prevention is very crucial and needs to be addressed by international community (Yilmaz, 2011). Conflicts between the nations and within the nations are addressed using different approaches. There have been successes and failures of international intervention in preventing and addressing the conflicts (Nye & Welch, 2016). International intervention is good for preventing and addressing conflicts as it helps addressing the situation based on different perspectives and solutions. International intervention covers a broader area and not just overcome the conflict but also enables the nation facing the conflict to develop its political and economic systems. This essay discusses whether international intervention is good or bad for preventing conflicts.
