Description

Change is the inevitable part of any organization. Restructuring of organizations refers to rebuilding or giving a new shape. Organizations frequently need to restructure themselves to survive and gain an edge in this competitive market (Todnem By 2005; Harrington, 2006). Whether big or small, all organizations need to implement the change theories. It broadly involves three main steps of preparing for change, managing it and reinforcing it. This paper details the change management theories namely Kurt Lewin theory, Kotter eight step model and Peter Senge Systematic View of Organizational change (Paton & McCalman 2008). It also details about the application of the change management theories in Nokia, the telecommunication equipment manufacturer and Etihad Airways, the second largest airways in Abu Dhabi which led to their failure and success respectively (Collin & Lorenzin 2006; Bloomberg Businessweek 2015).
