• This report is based on the following scenario -
• The Facility Management industry is evolving in GCC, a lot of international FM companies are considering Gulf Countries as potential market to grow their business. The biggest challenges they are facing in this market is how to market their services in GCC and how to differentiate themselves from others.
• Some companies are using FM software which help them managing the properties in professional way. However, those software requires human inputs by collecting the devices readings then encode it to software.
• The Internet of Things (IoT) is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
• Therefore, I aim from this study to know what will be the impact of IOT on two different sides; marketing the FM companies and transform the building management.

Description

Business organizations need to adapt their operations and approaches to meet the changing needs of the market. The market needs may force an organization to start a new business division to cater to the newly emerged needs of the people and businesses (Atkins & Brooks, 2008). Business organizations need to do so in order to be relevant and effective in the market despite the passage of time (Booty, 2006). Different innovations in the field of engineering and technology may also force business organizations to integrate the new technologies into their business processes in order to deliver increased value to the customers (Cotts et al., 2009). Building construction industry in the recent decades has witnessed unprecedented changes due to innovations in engineering and technology. The industry is also witnessing an increase in its scope from building projects to maintaining the building facilities as well. Facilities management is a relatively new field of management that is catering to the increased needs of people and corporate alike towards the maintenance of their facilities (Booty, 2006). The recent advent of the field of Internet of Things or IoT is providing a new dimension to the FM industry as it is enabling the industry to provide state of the art solutions to the customers by the use of digital devices, communication systems and the internet (SAS, 2018). The following is a research proposal aimed at studying the importance of Facility Management in general, the growth and relevance of FM industry in the Middle East and the convergence of internet technology and FM through IoT. The research also aims to identify the challenges faced by the FM industry in the Middle East and attempts to provide solutions to the challenges by making the necessary recommendations.
