This paper answers the following questions - - Question:
- 1. Following a period of organisational change you have been asked, as the safety manager to produce a briefing report to the board which:
- A) examines how human behaviour and organisational culture can impact on work activities and safety.
- B) deconstructs the terms culture, safety climate and behaviour and critically evaluates possible behavioural and cultural risk management approaches and methodologies and justifies how they can contribute to a more effective organisation. The discussion should also review how safety risk management within the workplace might be improved by these approaches and activities. (This requires the student to describe and critically assess how performance is measured).
- Justify your answer using researched, referenced examples where appropriate.
- 2. Define and discuss the components of an effective competency management system and critically review the principal activities required for its effective development, including evaluating ‘blockers’ or barriers to successful implementation. Include in your discussion how the critical elements of the CMS would be devised and integrated with other workplace systems and processes. Justify your answer and use examples where appropriate.
Description
This report critically evaluates impact of human behavior and culture on safety and work activities. The report then discusses the behavioral and cultural risk management approaches. The report also reviews competency management system, its development, and implementation and barriers to maintaining effective CMS.
