Mary Parker Follett was a management guru, writer and lecturer in the business world. She was the first lady management lecturer at the London School of Economics. She was the management guru to emphasize mechanical as well as operational excellence in management practices. There is a scientific approach to every implementation is what she agreed but there has to be a close interaction between the management and the employees is what she stressed and introduced strongly. Mary Parker innovated a holistic approach to leadership and management mantras. She gave new techniques to leadership and introduced systems that a leader becomes a person who must look at an overall perspective of things and not just the end of a process or project (Graham, 1996).
In modern day management theories or models two ideas work wonders and cannot be lived without. These two ideas are a part of the large corporate set ups that we all have around the world today. Globalisation, its effect on people, on organizations and on managements has forced these two ideas to function significantly in our day to day corporate life. Ms.Follett was one of the first management experts to integrate the idea of organizational conflict into the theory of management and hence considered as the "mother of conflict resolution."
