The linked issues of energy usage and carbon dioxide emissions are amongst the largest environmental and economic problems our global community face. Householders’ use of energy within their homes plays an important role in determining total energy use and the level of emissions.
The topic of this essay is: The factors that are likely to affect householders’ decisions about the type and source of energy they use (e.g. gas or electricity from traditional coal-fired electricity sources or solar-powered photo-voltaic (PV) panels) and their decisions about the use of energy efficient household appliances.
Therefore, your essay should explore:
1. Evidence on trends in household energy use in a country of your choice.
2. The factors affecting households’ decisions about the source of energy they use
and/or the choice of energy efficient appliances.
3. Government policies that might promote the use of less carbon intensive forms of
energy and more energy efficient household appliances.
