You are an L&D consultant and have been approached by a large UK based retail organisation for some advice. Specifically, you are asked to plan a development programme for a new graduate on completion of his/her degree programme within an organisation of your choice.
The graduate development programme should last for three months, and should incorporate both on and off the job training. You must have a specific organization in mind to provide the background for your development programme. You are allowed to make reasonable assumptions, for example, location and person-related training needs.
This assignment consists of a single task that accounts for 100% of the mark. Specifically, you need to compile an analysis that would explain the scheme in detail. The analysis should be written in an essay-format and adopt a critical perspective.
The essay should include the following:
The objectives for the development programme
How the plan fits with the L&D strategy of the organisation
Psychological and sociological learning theories to underpin proposals
A range of interventions based on formal as well as informal learning
How the development interventions could be organised
What specific types of development activities and interventions you would recommend and why?
How could the development initiatives be evaluated?
Costs/ budget required
What professional and ethical considerations are there?
