This individual piece of work will involve the student selecting one organisation of their choice for the purposes of critiquing the organisation’s corporate governance arrangements using the key theoretical debates encountered on the programme.
The analysis of corporate governance issues evidenced in the organisation will make reference to a wide range of conceptual corporate governance issues emanating from the academic literature and the regulatory environment in which the organisation operates. Such an approach will allow students to demonstrate: critical evaluation and synthesis of complex issues and material; clear evidence of relevant applications informed by current research and practice in the area; and wide knowledge and depth of understanding of complex and specialised principles and the development of ideas and practice. Consequently, the successful completion of such a programme of work will allow students to present a project that is academically rigorous, professionally and educationally relevant. Moreover, it will serve as a basis for the successful development of essay writing skills necessary for the exam process. Word length: 2,000 words.
