- Report Scenario
You work for a large organisation that wants to attract high school students to careers in fields important to its operation. The organisation has decided to devote some resources to informing students about such careers and encouraging them to enter relevant university programs. You have been asked to investigate the best way of getting students interested in these careers.
Many options have been suggested: expanded work experience with the company; taking students on tours of the organisation; company representative to visit schools; a website. The organisation wants to implement one option. It wants to be sure that whatever one it chooses will make students enthusiastic about these careers. You have been asked to conduct research on this and then write a report to your organisation’s Head of Division on which option is most feasible (you are not confined to those mentioned).
Aspects to consider include:
A brief background to the report.
Options and the most feasible option.
What is involved for the organisation, such as time and resources.
Costs/financial requirements.
A proposed timeline and budget outline will be helpful in deciding those aspects of your report that are immediately practical and those that might be approached at a later time.
Benefits for the organisation.
Potential risks (such as health and safety or legal issues with work experience and tour options).
It is up to you what type of organisation you use. You can use one that is known to you, one that you have visited in the past or one within your field of study. In writing the report, put yourself in the role of working for the organisation, which means your 'target audience' will be the Head of Division and others in your organisation.
You are required to do research and include references. Any information that you take from sources must be referenced and a reference list included with the report.
