- Scenario:
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) of Oman has recently received
numerous complaints from customers regarding high prices, low quality of various products,
selling expired products, not delivering goods on schedule, poor customer services, etc., of
many super/hyper markets in Muscat. A number of customers have approached the PACP
via telephone calls, e-mails and even visited the PACP head office in Azaiba, to file their
complaints.
The Public Authority for Consumer Protection strongly believes that providing efficient,
transparent and satisfactory service to the consumers can create a healthy and a
prosperous consumer market (PACP website). Therefore, it strives to protect consumer
rights and promote awareness, which require monitoring and taking necessary measures to
provide the customers access to the basic information of the quality of products, services,
and facilities these super/hyper markets offer to their potential customers. The authority
has planned to compare and contrast various services offered by these markets and publish
the report in the newspapers, on PACP website, and on public places to help customers take
their purchasing decisions prior to visiting any particular super/hyper market for any
particular product. The authority believes that the publication of such comparisons will serve
as an effective check-and-balance on these markets to provide better customer service,
competitive prices, and the best quality products to customers.
Task:
PACP has appointed you as a Principal Investigator (PI) to produce a 2000 word business
report entitled; "A comparative Study of Hyper Markets; Carrefour, Lulu, and Sultan
Centre" by drawing a comparison among Carrefour (Al-Quram), Lulu (Darsait Branch), and
Sultan Centre (Al-Quram Branch) as a first step of their plan based on the categories given
below. The Chairman of PACP, Dr. Salim Khamis Al-Busaidi, has asked for this report. The
report has to be submitted by 6pm on March, 28, 2015 via Turnitin.
