The main aim of this paper is to perform a strategic analysis and study the various resources and capabilities of an Irish company named as Web Reservation International (WRI). The company came into existence in the year 1999 and has shown exceptional growth since then. But now the company is facing stiff competition from the other players in the industry. The facing is facing a stiff challenge which makes it difficult for the company to maintain its dominant position in the industry inspite being having a very unique business proposition.
A thorough strategic analysis of the company is undertaken in this paper by using the models like SWOT (Strengths, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats), the PESTEL (Political, Economical, Social, Technological, Environmental, Legal), and the Five Forces Model (Threat from the competitors, Threat from New Entrants, Threat from Substitutes, Threat from Suppliers, Threat from Customers). An analysis of the resources and capabilities and the diversification strategy is also undertaken. Further based on the PESTEL analysis a scenario planning for the company is also done. Finally the paper provides for the various recommendations to the company which would help the company to maintain its dominant position.
