Description

Gambling is one of the major concerns in Singapore since there is increase in number of people involved in gambling. The country has one of the highest number of gamblers and the number of youth involved in it is on rise. The recent survey by National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) highlighted that there is a significant increase in the pathological gamblers who get in to the habit of gambling from an early age (Asia One, 2015). The habit of gambling in an early age is partly due to the social acceptance of some of the games and the availability of online gaming and illegal gaming options. NCPG has hence planned a social intervention plan, which is proposed to start in early 2016 and would continue during the European Cup. The objective of NCPG is to reduce the number of pathological gamblers through the social intervention, which would help change their habits and participate in other recreational activities. NCPG though the social intervention plans to educate the target audiences, which would include members less than 18 years old regarding the negative effects of gambling through various mediums and through various programs. The organization would monitor the progress of the participants as well as involve the family members to monitor changes in the participants and influence the participants to change their habits and get involved in other recreational activities.
