Description
This report is about the strategic management of the National Bank of Oman, which is the second largest bank of Oman. In order to make a choice for the strategy in the initial stages the external analysis is being done. The external analysis reveals that the environment of Oman is quite stable, hence the future events can be predicted comparatively easily and hence more or less accurate forecasts can be made.
In the second stage the internal analysis is being done. The internal analysis shows that the banks is quite strong in its fundamentals and this strength can be used to overcome its weaknesses and for cashing in on the available opportunities.
At the third stage the various strategic options have been suggested based on the analysis done. The strategies which have been suggested are the low cost strategy, differentiation strategy, expansion strategy by moving the business of the bank to overseas locations.
In the last stage the choice is made towards the best strategy of the bank. For this purpose based on the expert opinion and the results of the analysis, it has been suggested that there are ample opportunities for the National Bank of Oman to move overseas. This will help it establish a strong presence in other geographic locations and will also help the bank in increasing its market share and attaining the status of a leader.
