Increase in workplace fatalities has become an important factor for most countries in the world to determine workplace health and safety issues for employees in various government or non-government organizations. Some of the countries have been continuously witnessing conspicuous rise in death tolls from work-related accidents whereas most of other countries are suffering from the increase of the number of deaths from various occupational diseases. Particularly, the issue of workplace fatality is one of the primary concerns for Canada mainly because of its constantly higher fatality rates. This paper addresses the key aspects of workplace fatality and safety issues of Canadian workplace environments, and briefly reviews the statistical data including the factors that decide the major reasons behind the high fatality rates.
