Description

The core function of a business organization is to provide products or services for the consumption of the customer. It is through the provision of products and services according to the needs of the customers that the organizations are able to sustain and grow though business income and profits. Operations refer to all the activities that are involved in the provision of products or services to the customers for their consumption. It is through the transformation process of resources that provisions of products and services are made to the customers. Operations in an organization refer to all the activities that are involved the transformation of input resources into outputs in the form of products or services (Chase, 2003). The input resources can be raw materials, technology, spares, skills, time and energy. The outputs would be products or services, which would be produced as per the customer requirements.
