In the present business era, the organizational downsizing has become an omnipresent feature of a multitude of both the corporations and governmental agencies and the private sector throughout the industrialized world. The main catalyst for this majority of practice of down sizing activities in the organization is the objective of a reduction of costs, an increase of an organization’s levels of efficiency, to increase the effectiveness of the production and competitiveness and thus an organization’s overall performance (Cascio, 1993).Therefore, the major reason of this activity is to make the organization more competitive when compared to its rivals in the industry. This study aims to examine the adopted downsizing implementation strategies and the role of Human resource management that is in practice in Australia.
